Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris opens July 20th, 2022. This is an exciting addition for Walt Disney Studios Park, which is undergoing a major multi-year transformation. Not only will Avengers Campus include two rides (one a retheme of the former Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith) but a variety of dining options, character encounters and shopping. Disneyland Paris says that Avengers Campus will open with “the promise to empower guests to take an active role alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and live out their own heroic story.” Here is a look at what to expect!
For rides, Avengers Campus will offer Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure and Avengers Assemble: Flight Force. Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure is the attraction from Anaheim, which we’ve ridden a few times before. From Disneyland Paris: The mission: team up with Spidey and help capture the out-of-control Spider-Bots – Peter Parker’s robot sidekicks – before they wreak havoc on the Campus. This is a fun ride for families with no height requirement. Avengers Assemble: Flight Force is the roller coaster formerly known as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith but with an Avengers theme. Disneyland Paris says of this ride, On this high-speed rollercoaster, recruits will team up with none other than Captain Marvel herself and the one and only Iron Man. The height requirement for Avengers Assemble: Flight Force is 120 cm, equivalent to 47 inches.
Character encounters will be a major part of the land. Since the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes in 2018, Marvel has had a role at Walt Disney Studios Paris. We attended that event and have met Marvel characters at Disneyland Paris since then. Avengers Campus will bring many of those characters into the land for Heroic Encounters, and will add more characters and more experiences. From Disneyland Paris: “With surprise live-action stunts and heroic encounters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Black Widow, Thor and Loki, recruits will get to become part of the Marvel universe. Sam Wilson as Captain America, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Okoye and the Dora Milaje from Wakanda, will also make their first appearance at Disneyland Paris! ”
The dance-off with Star-Lord and Gamora from the Guardians of the Galaxy will be back. That was so much fun! And The Training Center will offer the opportunity to meet Spider-Man, Iron Man or Captain Marvel in a new dedicated building that is unique to the Disneyland Paris Avengers Campus. There will be – for the first time in any Disney park – a dynamic “freeze frame” video sequence. This is created by Disney PhotoPass with 27 cameras around the action. It sounds incredible!
For dining, there are a number of options. I am most looking forward to Pym Kitchen, which is the buffet that will include oversized, shareable items as well as tiny versions for guests who want to try a wide variety of items. Stark Factory is a counter location that will offer homemade pizza, fresh pasta and salads. There will also be a couple of specialty food trucks: WEB – Worldwide Eating Brigade, which will offer Asian noodles & coconut balls and the FAN-tastic Food Truck (Tony Stark’s favorite) with New York style hot dogs, vegan sausages and cheesecake on a stick. That still isn’t all. The Super Diner, which used to be Cafe des Cascadeurs, will serve Reuben sandwiches.
If you plan to visit Disneyland Paris for Avengers Campus, definitely consider staying at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. The hotel is a sleek upgrade of the original Disney’s Hotel New York. We haven’t stayed yet but we have dined a number of times at the Downtown Restaurant and Manhattan Restaurant, and also visited the Skyline Bar (which I love) and the Bleecker Street Lounge.
We visit Disneyland Paris pretty regularly and it is exciting to see Avengers Campus on the verge of opening.
I recommend visiting during the 30th Anniversary Celebration, which kicked off in early March, 2022! Avengers Campus is another great reason to visit the resort (and to add another day to your trip).
