EPCOT Construction Update from October 17th, 2023, Including Possible Walt Statue Arrival

Hi everyone!

We have photos of EPCOT construction from yesterday, a few photos from the ground and then many from the monorail. It looks like the Walt Disney statue arrived in a box and is waiting installation. Our last photo update was about a month ago before our Paris trip. The construction is supposed to be complete this year, although the current Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana press release does not mention a date.

And here are photos from the monorail. I mentioned earlier that the Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana press release doesn’t give a time frame for the construction (but hopefully it is still on track for December). The press release says:

Additional upcoming transformative elements include the debut of a new Walt Disney statue called “Walt the Dreamer” at Dreamers Point and the World Celebration gardens with plenty of lush green space to enjoy.  

CommuniCore Hall and Communicore Plaza are still taking shape.

CommuniCore Plaza “will have the flexibility to host intimate musical performances that extend out into the nearby gardens, as well as large-scale concerts”.

CommuniCore Hall will be a “flexible exhibition and gallery space, offering a wide variety of experiences that highlight art, live music, food – complete with a demonstration kitchen – and more.” Also there will be a Mickey & Friends meet and greet location.

The central planter here is based on the five-ring EPCOT logo. Dreamer’s Point with the Walt the Dreamer Statue will be in the background, and you can see a box there likely containing the statue.

It appears to be a wooden box with a lock.

Here are more photos from the monorail of the EPCOT World Celebration construction. A lot of trees have been planted in the past months, so not everything that used to be visible is now.
