Star Wars Day at Sea Kicks Off on Disney Fantasy: Videos and a Few First Thoughts

Hi everyone!

We just experienced the first Star Wars Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy cruise ship. It isn’t a full Star Wars cruise as some have asked, but it is one day at sea that is almost all Star Wars, along with Star Wars movies played all week and merchandise available to purchase. I will be posting my thoughts and information about the Star Wars Day at Sea by Monday, but we did post a few videos on your YouTube channel from it (and we will have many more, along with a lot of photos).

The first video is of the Disney Fantasy horn playing the Imperial March. This happened several times on the Star Wars Day at Sea.

Also, there are interactive character meet and greets. I’ll write more about it in my article, guests can choose from several different character interactions – but there isn’t a guarantee on who you will meet. In this case, it was either Captain Phasma or Darth Vader. We met Captain Phasma from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Cast Members were really great inside the meet and greet that was either Darth Maul or C-3PO with RD-D2. In the time we were there, guests were allowed to wait for the droids (while Darth Maul was meeting). It would be nice if this was an option. In the Captain Phasma meet, there were guests who wanted Darth Vader and didn’t know who Captain Phasma was at all. So I hope Disney can make it a little more flexible on future sailings in all three of the experiences.
Overall, it was a pretty great day – not perfect, there are some things that aren’t part of the day that I expected. But it also exceeded my expectations in several ways, and hopefully Disney can build on the event to make it even better.
