February 10th – 11th “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” Media Presentations

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry for the delay on this, we had server issues this past week which were fixed over the weekend!

On Thursday and Friday (February 10th and 11th), Walt Disney World was the backdrop for some new announcements, as well as the largest can sculpture on record.  Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas also debuted a new song from the upcoming "Oceans". All this was for the "Give a Day, Get a Day" promotion and media event.

Thank you to Jeff Lange for taking many of the photos (while I was shooting video).

The big news of the first day was for Summer Nightastic! – a name familar with anyone who was at Disneyland last summer.  I had read rumors about this earlier in the day, including the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade.  I am very, very happy about this particular aspect of Summer Nightastic! – the updated parade is all-new for Walt Disney World, though it has been playing at Disney's California Adventure since last year.  I like the new additions, and it's still my favorite Disney parade (I first saw the original version when I was around 10, and I'm 43 now). Disney doesn't have anything to go head-to-head with Universal's Harry Potter this year, but I'll visit Walt Disney World much more often this summer due to the new offerings.  In addition, there will be an all-new fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom (the rumor was that it'd be Magic, Music and Mayhem, but we were told it'd not be).  The Tower of Terror will also be getting a new drop sequence, as well as some new lighting effects. Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton gave the news about Summer Nightastic!  I took video of the announcement as well.

The presentation also included President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Al Weiss talking about the upcoming Fantasyland project, as well as information on the Disney Cruise Line and ESPN.  Much of it was similar to the D23 convention in September, and I'm including just a few images.

The announcements were made at the Disney's Wide World of Sports complex, which will officially change over this month to the ESPN Wide World of Sports.

On to Day 2 of the event, which promoted the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" campaign.
