Epcot’s “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” to be Replaced in the Second Half of 2019

Hi everyone!

Illuminations: Reflections of Earth now has an end in sight after months of rumors – not an exact date, but a timeframe. The show is “currently planned” to run through the end of summer 2019 with a new show replacing it. Illuminations: Reflections of Earth has been my favorite Disney show since it debuted in 1999 for the Millennium Celebration, almost 20 years ago now.

The Disney Parks Blog says about the change,  After nearly 20 years of delighting Epcot guests through music, fireworks, fire torches and more, we wanted to let you know that “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will be ending in the second half of next year. The Disney Parks Live Entertainment team is already busy creating new thrills to debut immediately following the conclusion of “IllumiNations,” continuing the tradition of nightly entertainment on the World Showcase Lagoon.

Disney also says, And the all-new nighttime fireworks spectacular coming to Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon will be part of the park’s exciting evolution.

There are a lot of changes happening at Epcot, with the Ratatouille attraction opening in the next couple of years in the France pavilion of World Showcase and the Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster opening by sometime in 2021 to coincide with the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary.

This is a good year to book for the holiday season and see the show.

I will miss Illuminations: Reflections of Earth! I can’t even imagine a better show yet, but I hope something equally as good replaces it. This show holds a lot of good memories for me from the last 20 years.
