Trail’s End Reopening as Family Style Location with New Menu on July 17th, 2021

Hi everyone!

Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is reopening July 17th. The restaurant will be offering family-style skillets for breakfast and dinner, according to the Disney Parks Blog. I was excited about the reopening until I noticed the dinner menu is very different than the buffet offerings were. Hopefully that is temporary (for example, the chicken is rotisserie and not fried, which is what the restaurant is known for). P&J’s Southern Takeout has offered the fried chicken and yummy sides at the counter service location, so hopefully that continues.

The morning meal includes an oven-fresh pastry basket and berry granola yogurt parfait, followed by a skillet with smoked brisket and eggs, bacon, sausage and cheesy potato casserole. Of course, like most breakfast family style restaurants, Mickey waffles are also part of the meal. The Disney Parks Blog also says, Adults can sip on Moonshine Morning Cocktails – a Pioneer Mimosa with passion, orange, and guava juices and a Mountain Mary with moonshine.

The dinner skillet is a surprise, with rotisserie chicken instead of their extremely popular fried chicken. The meal includes hushpuppies and the famous skillet cornbread along with a chopped garden salad for the table. The Disney Parks Blog explains the meal, The family-style Smokehouse Skillet comes with pecan-smoked brisket, rotisserie chicken, andouille sausage, fingerlings potatoes, green beans, and buttered corn on the cob.

They also note, Pork spare ribs, peel n’ eat shrimp, and cornbread-crusted salmon are available as tasty add-ons to your meal.

The Covered Wagon Sundae includes ice cream, toppings, brownies, cookies, and chocolate-covered bacon.

The menus on the Trail’s End web page have not been fully updated yet. I will post more when they are. Trail’s End has been one of my favorite restaurants for more than 20 years and the new menu isn’t really for me, but hopefully we’ll see the most popular items return at a later time.
